Blues

Kayaking is a Half Blues sport. We have criteria for Canoe Polo and Flatwater Racing below. We may also be able to apply for extraordinary Half Blues for regional standard performance in other disciplines, and for extraordinary Full Blues for national standard performances in all disciplines, these awards are at the discrestion of the Blues Committees. If you have any questions please contact the [Captain](http://www.cucanoe.co.uk/committee). # Men's ## Canoe Polo A Half Blue is awarded to an athlete who satisfies BOTH of the below criteria, in the same academic year. 1. Athlete is a contributing member of the Varsity First Team; 2. Athlete is a contributing member of a BUCS First Team Squad which finishes in the top 5 of BUCS; Where a “contributing member” is defined as a team member who is on the pitch for at least half of the duration of the matches played in each case. ## Flatwater racing: A Half Blue is awarded to an athlete who satisfies BOTH of the following 1. Athlete is the top-placed Cambridge finisher in the Varsity race; 2. Athlete finishes in the top three overall. # Women's ## Canoe Polo: A Half Blue is awarded to an athlete who satisfies BOTH of the below criteria, in the same academic year. 1. Athlete is a contributing member of the Varsity First Team; 2. Athlete is a contributing member of a BUCS Women’s First Team Squad which finishes in the top half of BUCS OR the top 10, whichever is more selective; Where a “contributing member” is defined as a team member who is on the pitch for at least half of the duration of the matches played in each case. # Flatwater racing: A Half Blue is awarded to an athlete who satisfies BOTH of the following 1. Athlete is the top-placed Cambridge finisher in the Varsity race; 2. Athlete finishes in the top three overall; AND at least one of the following, within the same academic year 3. Athlete has raced at no fewer than two Hasler series races, competing at Division 4 standard or higher; 4. Athlete has competed at a national sprint regatta at Women’s C standard or higher.
